Below are "edu games" I've designed and developed primarily for ESL or EFL students. The web is full of educational web apps (developed mostly in Flash), but I couldn't find any like the apps I've developed. They are supposed to be simple and quick to implement in your lesson. Please try them out and if you have any comments or suggestions, don't hesitate to send me an email at adam[at]adamsawicki[dot]com. I hope you find these games fun, easy, and educational.

Fast Buttons

Use Fast Buttons to decide which team answers a question first. CTRL buzzes in the Red Team and the UP key on the arrow keys buzzes in the Blue Team. Add team names to personalize the experience. Use the "start/clear" button (or ESC key) to reset the results.

Requirements: Any browser BUT Internet Explorer.

Optional: If you want to use mice (2 of them!) instead of the keyboard, you must use third party software to split up the cursors.

The Arrangers

Use The Arrangers to help students understand the order of a certain sentence, the directions of a recipe, the right spelling of a word, etc. To change the text, you must hightlight the current text by dragging the mouse just outside the text box and over the text.

Requirements: Any browser BUT Internet Explorer.

Be sure to turn the volume up :)

Count UP

Use Count UP to test your students' understanding of two and three digit numbers. Divide the class into 2 teams and call up one student from each team. Say a number and have the students hit either Ctrl (for team 1) or UP key on the arrow keys (for team 2) until they reach the number you said. Once they reach the number, they must shout out what it is. If a student goes over by even 1 number, they do not gain a point.

I'm sure you can think of other uses for this simple concept, so go ahead!
